Pittsburgh has amended the city’s Paid Sick Days Act to provide for faster accrual and increased paid sick leave hours. The amended law will go into effect January 1, 2026.
- All employers will be required to provide covered employees one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked in the city, down from 35 hours.
- Employers with 15 or more employees will be required to allow employees to accumulate, carry over, and use to up to 72 hours of paid sick leave each year. This is an increase from 40 hours.
- Employers with fewer than 15 employees must allow employees to accumulate, carry over, and use to up to 48 hours of paid sick leave each year. This is an increase from 24 hours.
