As you know, under Massachusetts’ Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) law, employers are responsible for sending family and medical leave contributions to the Department of Family and Medical Leave (DFML) on behalf of their covered employees. To do this, employers must withhold PFML contributions from employees’ paychecks. Employers are only required to send an employer contribution if they have 25 or more covered individuals in their workforce.
The DFML has now announced a new contribution rate of 0.88% of eligible wages. This contribution can be split between a covered employee’s payroll or wage withholdings and an employer’s contribution.
Additionally, for 2026, the maximum weekly benefit amount that an employee can receive in PFML benefits will be $1,230.39 per week.
