In January 2026, Minnesota is launching a new Paid Leave program. It provides paid time off when a serious health condition prevents an employee from working, when an employee needs time to care for a family member or a new child, for certain military-related events or for certain personal safety issues.
Following the initial public comment period, Minnesota’s Paid Leave program published its final proposed rules in the State Register (Proposed Permanent Rules Regulating Paid Leave). A print copy of the proposed rules is available from the state without charge, upon request.Employers can find more helpful information on the program here.
