President Trump has rescinded Executive Order 14026, “Increasing the Minimum Wage for Federal Contractors.” The minimum wage for federal contractors had recently increased to $17.75 per hour.
The rescission is one of several made pursuant to a recent executive order titled “Additional Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions.” In that EO, the rescissions were made “to advance the policy of the United States to restore common sense to the Federal Government and unleash the potential of American citizens.”
Note that Obama-era Executive Order 13658, which also establishes a minimum wage requirement for federal contractors, has not been rescinded. That minimum wage is currently $13.30, and applies to contracts entered into before EO 14026 took effect on January 30, 2022. Otherwise, federal contractors are generally subject to federal and state minimum wage requirements.
