2025 New York Paid Family Leave Increases Contribution Rates and Benefits

Beginning January 1, 2025, New York’s Paid Family Leave (NY PFL) program will see updates to both the employee contribution rate and the maximum weekly benefit. The employee contribution rate will increase slightly to 0.388% of gross wages per pay period, with a maximum annual contribution of $354.53, up from 0.373% and $333.25 in 2024.

Additionally, the maximum weekly benefit will rise to $1,177.32, reflecting 67% of the New York State Average Weekly Wage (NYSAWW), which has increased to $1,757.19 for 2025. This is an increase from the $1,151.16 weekly benefit available in 2024.

Employers must update their payroll systems to accommodate the new contribution rates and notify employees about the changes. These adjustments continue to support workers during qualifying life events while balancing the financial contributions required for the program.
