Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has signed House Bill 567, which will repeal the state’s earned paid sick time statute and and minimum wage increases scheduled for 2027 and beyond.
Earned paid sick leave was approved by voters at the end of 2024, and became effective in May of this year. The statute will remain in effect — meaning employees may still utilize paid sick leave – until August 28, 2025. Employers may continue to offer employees earned paid sick time after August 28 if they wish, but are no longer required to do so beginning August 28.
Minimum wage increases were also approved by voters. The increases for 2025 and 2026 will remain in effect (the minimum wage increases from $13.75 per hour to $15 per hour on January 1, 2026), but the scheduled increases for 2027 and successive years will not take effect.
