Nevada has decreased the number of hours a child under the age of 16 years may work from 48 hours per week to 40 hours. Such children cannot work more than eight hours in any one day. There is an exception for employment as a performer in the production of a motion picture or work on a farm.
Additionally, a child may not be employed as a lifeguard, employee of an arcade, stage or theatrical performer or performer in the production of a motion picture or work on a farm, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on any night immediately preceding a school day if the child:
- Is enrolled in high school at a public or private school;
- Is 16 years of age or older and under 19 years of age; and
- Is not declared emancipated under Nevada law.
These changes are effective on October 1, 2025. Access the enacted bill here.
