New York City Overrides Veto of Grocery Delivery Worker Protection Legislation

The New York City Council recently voted to override Mayor Adams’ veto of legislation concerning grocery delivery worker protections.

Introduction 1133-A extends food delivery worker protections to all contracted delivery workers retained to deliver goods for a delivery service. Introduction 1135-A requires third-party grocery delivery services to pay their delivery workers a minimum pay rate that would meet or exceed that set by the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (i.e., $21.44 per hour).
